Ann C. "Claueda" Barks, 80, of Oak Ridge passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, at her home.

The second of three children, Claueda was born May 7, 1942, in Oran, Missouri, to Clyde W. and Nellie M. "Marie" Hosea Moran.

She attended school in Oran. Her first church home was Messler Baptist Church, where she first met Bobby Lee Barks, often pestering him for chewing gum. Claueda was seven years younger than Bobby. In 1958, Claueda represented Oran in the annual Jackson Homecomers Queen Contest, and she won! That's when Bob saw her again, all grown up. They were married June 28, 1959, in Oran. She completed her senior year in Jackson, graduating in 1960. She and Bob had been married 63 years, when he passed away Oct. 12, 2022.

Bobby's father, the Rev. Loy L. Barks, was minister of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, where Claueda and Bob were very active. Claueda taught children's Sunday school. She was a member of Cape County Cowboy Church in Oak Ridge, and was a former member of General Baptist Church in Jackson, where she was active in the children's ministry.

Claueda worked outside of the home in many retail stores, including Rozier's in Jackson and Montgomery Ward in Cape Girardeau. She also worked at the hosiery mill in Jackson. Her love for making clothes led her and Bob to establish Barks Fashion Fabrics in Jackson. During this time, she served on Jackson Medical Board and was active in Jackson Chamber of Commerce.

In 1990, Claueda and Bob purchased Rainbow Auction and later renamed the business Barks Auction Service. In 1994, Claueda decided to become an auctioneer, so she attended Nashville Auctioneer School in Nashville, Tennessee. During the 25 years they owned and operated the auction service, Claueda became very active in Missouri Professional Auctioneers Association, becoming the first female president. In 2008, she was inducted into Missouri Professional Auctioneers' Association Hall of Fame. She was always active with the state, national and local auctioneers' associations, raising money for various charities.

Loving survivors include two children, Robin Anderson and Robert (Renee) Barks, both of Oak Ridge; five grandchildren, Angela (Brian) Daniels, Heather Anderson, Tony (Jodie) Barks, Michael (Regina) Anderson and Ashley (Greg) Martin; and nine great-grandchildren, Tyler Anderson, Kody Barks, Jason Seabaugh, Kaleb Martin, Emma Barks, Caleb Anderson, Luke Anderson, Lillian Martin and Elizabeth Anderson; brother, Garry Moran of Oak Ridge; and three nephews, Donnie (Pattie) McCain, Ronnie (Debbie) McCain and Kenny Moran.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Juanita Moran; and her in-laws, the Rev. Loy L. and Jettie Gartung Barks.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Jim Matthews will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

For memorial donations, the family encourages consideration of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Alzheimer's Association, so research may be continued to cure terrible diseases, particularly dementia, which affected Claueda the past several years.
