BELL CITY -- Clyde Wesley Northern, 63, of Bell City died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born Feb. 1, 1935, at Matthews, son of John Wesley and Mary Ida Jane Wilson Northern. He and Lacleda J. "Sis" Cooper were married Sept. 5, 1958, at Miner. She died July 13, 1995...

BELL CITY -- Clyde Wesley Northern, 63, of Bell City died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Feb. 1, 1935, at Matthews, son of John Wesley and Mary Ida Jane Wilson Northern. He and Lacleda J. "Sis" Cooper were married Sept. 5, 1958, at Miner. She died July 13, 1995.

Northern was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Korean War.

He had lived in St. Louis for many years where he worked for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft and the Ford Motor Co. auto plant.

In 1973, he moved to Bell City where he was a farmer for Alberson Farms.

He was a member of the Morley VFW Post and was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include his mother; a son, Clyde W. "Randy" Northern II of Oran; three daughters, Teresa Lockhart of Sikeston and Mary Sue-Ellen and Sarah Ann Northern, both of Bell City; five brothers, Charles Northern of St. Louis, Ray Northern of Zalma, Paul Northern of Sikeston, Oscar Northern of Milwaukee, Wis., and Donnie Northern of Custer, S.D.; and two sisters, Mary Hampton and Hattie McDowell, both of Sikeston.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Lawrence Heckert will officiate, with burial in New Morley Cemetery.
