Connie Harris, 80, of Abilene, Texas, died Tuesday, July 5, 1994, in an Abilene hospital.
She was born in Portageville. The former Connie McElyea and Lindell Harris were married Sept. 2, 1941, in Cape Girardeau.
Harris received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University, and master of religious education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
The couple lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, from 1946 until moving to Abilene in 1952. She was a first grade teacher 23 years, retiring in 1979.
Harris was a member of First Baptist Church and its Alternate Curriculum Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband; a son, David Harris of Abilene; a daughter, Linda Carmichael of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Irene Ditch of Orlando, Fla., and a grandson.
The family will receive friends at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home from 7-9 tonight.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Stedham and Chaplain Charles Myers officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
