CHAFFEE -- A memorial service for former Chaffee Police Officer Daniel Eugene Bedwell of Chaffee will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate, assisted by Wade Bedwell and Marty McPheron.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Home at Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.

Bedwell, 55, died Monday, July 26, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 6, 1938, in Takoma Park, Md., son of Horace V. and Wilda Wade Jenkins Bedwell. He and Lynn McPheron were married July 3, 1966, at Sikeston.

Bedwell had been with the police department here 13 years, and served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and Chaffee Elks 1810.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Derek Bedwell of Chaffee; a daughter, Deborah Bedwell of Chaffee; his father of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Horace Bedwell of Tulsa, Ronald Bedwell of York, Pa.; a sister, Darlene Summerlott of Coral Springs, Fla., and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
