David Jay Grant, 50, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born June 15, 1961, at Cape Girardeau to J.C. and Margaret Grant.
David graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1981. He had received many community awards for helping the disabled and was on the board of Semo Alliance for Disability Independence since its start in Cape Girardeau. He worked at Target for more than 12 years.
Survivors include his mother; two sisters, Susan (James) King of Gordonville and Nancy Ann (Stanley) Burchell of Kansas City, Mo.; three nephews, Randy (Jessica) Burchell of Kansas City, Mo., Justin Kottadi of Cape Girardeau and Joseph Harrison of Dexter, Mo.; and a niece, Jamie King of Gordonville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.
