THEBES, Ill. -- Delmar H. "Red" Stamp, 67, of Thebes, died Monday, Jan. 20, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born Jan. 12, 1925, at Gorham, son of Elmer and Lena O. Welchel Stamp Sr. He and Gladys Guess were married Dec. 10, 1946, in Illmo, Mo.
Stamp retired in 1971 as an operator with the Corps of Engineers in St. Louis. He was a member of Thebes Baptist Church, and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steve Jones of Thebes; a daughter, Pam Hocking of Thebes; two brothers, Homer Stamp Sr. of Scott City, Mo., Bill Stamp of Grand Prairie, Texas; two sisters, Irene Hargis and Frances Russell of Titusville, Fla.; two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Chapel in Tamms. The Revs. Tom Bridges and Carl Fisher will officiate, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until service time.
