ALTO PASS, Ill. -- Denzil Paul Baltzell, 78, of Mt. Vernon, Ill., died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, in Mt. Vernon.

He was born March 13, 1923, in Alto Pass, son of Everett D. and Eva A. Lindsey Baltzell.

Baltzell was a plant manager 30 years for Skelly Oil Co. He was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, and VFW Post 3455 in Anna, Ill.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Baltzell of Waltonville, Ill., Larry Sherwood of Bonnie, Ill.; a brother, Carl Baltzell of Alto Pass; four sisters, Imogene Fox of Alto Pass, Lawanda Eastwood of Carbondale, Ill., Edna Tellor of Cobden, Ill., Mildred Lyerla of Nebraska; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alto Pass Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Miller will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 3455.
