THEBES, Ill. -- Dick Schlamer, 86, of Thebes died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Cache, Ill., son of Emile and Jennie Hewitt Schlamer. He and Evelyn Clifford were married April 10, 1952.
Dick served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II.
He was a retired farmer, carpenter and welder. He was a member of Farm Bureau. He loved his family, fishing and farming.
Dick was a loving husband to his wife of 61 years, Evelyn of Thebes; dad to Sam (Mary Ellen) Schlamer of Thebes and Sandy (Peter) Foote of Discovery Bay, Calif.; and grandpa to Jacob Schlamer, Jordan Schlamer and Elissa Foote. He also is survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Joe, Emile, Gerald, Louie and Carl; and two sisters, Eula Vaughn and Emma Hinton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.
The funeral will be at noon Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Monahan officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
