Donald R. Gaston, 70, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at his home.
He was born April 5, 1946, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to Charles W. and Anna Mae Morton Gaston. He married Laura J. Stein on Sept. 17, 1966.
Donald was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964 through 1967, at which time he was honorably discharged. He worked 24 years as a technician for Xerox and 10 years for Best Buy, retiring in 2003. He also was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson.
Loving survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Laura Gaston; a son, Mike (Heather) Gaston of Jackson; a daughter, Sandy (Steve) Malpezzi of Ferndale, Washington; five grandchildren, Mae and Jake Gaston and Anthony, Thomas and Timothy Malpezzi; and two sisters, Jeannell (Mike) Charmin of Salem, Illinois, and Melissa (Tony) Almaguer of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ron Gaston.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with pastor Jeremy Clayton officiating. Military honors will be conducted during the service.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
