Donna Jean Hitt, 69, of Jackson died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 9, 1948, in St. Louis, daughter of Richard and Betty Lou Byrd Williams. She and Gerald Hitt married July 5, 1969, in Gordonville.

Donna spent much of her early childhood in St. Louis and East Prairie, Missouri, before moving to Cape Girardeau. She was a 1966 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and then attended office training school. While Gerald was in the service, she worked at the University Extension Center and various other places of employment. However, her favorite job was being the mother of two children. The loves of her life were her walk with God, her husband, children, grandchildren and nature, especially the Smoky Mountains.

In addition to her husband of nearly 49 years, Gerald Hitt of Jackson, loving survivors include two children, Russ (Kasey) Hitt and Kelly (Matt) McCurry, all of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Collin McCurry, Lainey Hitt and Alex Hitt, all of Mount Juliet; and her mother, Betty Myres of Cape Girardeau.
