Doris O'Neal

Doris Jean O'Neal, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Austin, Texas, to Aubrey Clifford and Ollie Lankford Swofford.

She worked at Saint Francis Medical Center for 26 years in the medical records department.

She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church and was active at Cape Girardeau Senior Center.

Doris liked reading and outdoor activities. She especially enjoyed spending time with family, including her family in Texas.

Survivors include one son, Bert (Claudia) O'Neal of Seminole, Florida; daughter, Vicki (Alan) Wright of Commerce, Missouri; two sisters, Kathryn Senterfit and Jo Ann (Edgar) Reiley of Austin; three grandchildren, Lindsay Maupin, Chad Hileman and Gabriella Antunes; and one great-grandchild, Maddox Maupin.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Joe Mack O'Neal; brother, James Swofford; and sister, Helen Suter.

Friends may call from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Kevin Goebel officiating.
