She was born Nov. 12, 1916, at Advance, Mo., daughter of August and Anna Greuel Hoernig. She married Walter J. Schumer. Schumer worked at McDonnell Aircraft Corp. during World War II, and had worked at International Shoe Co. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Dorothea M. Schumer, 90, of Perryville died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 12, 1916, at Advance, Mo., daughter of August and Anna Greuel Hoernig. She married Walter J. Schumer.

Schumer worked at McDonnell Aircraft Corp. during World War II, and had worked at International Shoe Co. She was a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church at Biehle, Mo., St. Ann Sodality, Western Catholic Union, Miraculous Medal Association.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Joseph and Harold (Belenda) Schumer of Perryville; four daughters, Charlotte (Jerry) Welker of Cape Girardeau, Louise (Jim) Hurtle of Hebron, Ky., Phyllis (Ken) Dunn of St. Louis, Monica (Phil) Noll of Los Alamos, N.M.; two sisters, Christina and Bernadina Hoernig of Perryville; two brothers, the Rev. Alphonse Hoernig of Perryville, Leonard (Lucille) Hoernig of St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Mildred Hoernig of Perryville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Miller Family Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, and the rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Maurus Church, with the Revs. Alphonse Hoernig and Tony Dattilo officiating. Burial will be in St. Maurus Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Masses at St. Maurus Church.
