SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Dorothy Mae Hartle Ellis, 96, of Sedgewickville passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at the Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Marble Hill, Missouri.

She was born June 26, 1920, at Patton, Missouri, daughter of Arthur E. and Mae Bollinger Hartle.

She and Benjamin Franklin Ellis Sr. were married Sept. 18, 1939, in Cane Hill, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death July 20, 2007.

Mrs. Ellis taught in the rural schools, was a homemaker, active in the Busy Bee Homemaker Club and 4H Club and was a member of the Patton Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included quilting and knitting, and she was an avid gardener.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Ben (Pamela) Ellis Jr. of Jackson; daughter, Louella (Ray) Yeargain of St. Charles, Missouri; sister Doris Bollinger of Sedgewickville; four grandchildren, Susan MacDonald, Ray Yeargain II, Ben Ellis III and Kathryn Kelly; and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Arthur Jr. and sister Delba Englehart.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Flatwoods-Lebanon Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton.

Funeral Services will be at noon Saturday, with the Revs. Ben Ellis III and Charley Mangels officiating.

Burial will follow in the Flatwoods-Lebanon Cemetery near Patton.
