CHARLESTON -- Dorothy Hearnes, 86, of Charleston died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Bertrand Retirement Facility.

She was born April 15, 1912, at Charleston, daughter of A.S. and Ora J. Johnson Brown Sr. She and Richard W. Hearnes were married Dec. 7, 1935, in Cape Girardeau. He died in January 1967.

Hearnes had lived in the New England states; Shreveport, La.; and Independence before returning to Charleston in 1960. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women and Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class.

Survivors include a son, Richard Hearnes of Kirkwood; a brother, Alfie Brown of Charleston; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-7 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rick White officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
