MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Doyle Winfred Hahs, 86, of Marble Hill passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born May 11, 1925, son of John Renzo and Cecelia Mae Hartwick Hahs. He and Ann Smith were married in 1946. He and Verdetta Louise Schrock Borchelt were married in 1968...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Doyle Winfred Hahs, 86, of Marble Hill passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 11, 1925, son of John Renzo and Cecelia Mae Hartwick Hahs. He and Ann Smith were married in 1946. He and Verdetta Louise Schrock Borchelt were married in 1968.

Hahs owned several businesses in Marble Hill: Ren's Package Liquor, Hahs Machine Shop, and Hahs Excavating and Hauling. He was a member of Marble Hill United Methodist Church.

He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and received a Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife of Marble Hill; two daughters, Patti Barrett and Jeanna Liley of Marble Hill; two stepsons, Donald and John Borchelt; a sister, Bonnie Barnhart of Grassy, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Karla Brown, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.

The service will be at noon Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
