Dr. Doris Ann Skelton, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Southeast Hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to James and Doris McGruder Baggett. Dr. Doris Ann Skelton, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to James and Doris McGruder Baggett.
She received her doctorate from University of Arkansas.
She was a professor of clinical psychology at Southeast Missouri State University for more than 40 years, retiring in 2007.
She was a board member of Community Counseling Center Foundation and a lifetime member of Optimist Club of Cape Girardeau.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her close companion, Archie Smith of Cape Girardeau; and nieces, Elizabeth J. Dearman and Susan Prewett Berry, both of Forrest City, Arkansas.
There will be no services.
Memorial contributions may be given to Community Counseling Center of Cape Girardeau, 402 S. Silver Springs Road, Cape Girardeau, MO 63703, or Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 N. Ellis St., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
