MOUNDS, Ill. -- Dr. William Hardwick Bagbey, 93, of Mounds passed away at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Doc was born Aug. 7, 1922, at Bertrand, Missouri, the son of the late William Robert Bagbey and Mary Helen Hardwick Bagbey.
Doc was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mounds; a life-time member of Mounds VFW Post 8891; a member of the Palmer College Chiropractic Alumni and a World War II Marine Corps veteran. Doc was a chiropractor in Mounds from 1948 until the present.
Doc was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Effie Cobbs Bagbey; a sister, Rosemary Andrews; and a brother, Charles Bagbey.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Bagbey of Cape Girardeau and Kris Bagbey of Franklin, Tennessee; a daughter, Pamela Bagbey of Chaffee, Missouri; two special sons, David Hutton of Franklin and Frank Trankler of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Brenda Cobbs of Mounds and Betty Smith of Kentucky; two grandchildren, Barbra (Kenny) Elfrink and Sarah (Thomas) Farquhar; seven great-grandchildren; a special niece and daughter, Jackie Moore of Mounds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at United Methodist Church in Mounds.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Revs. Doug Atkins and Buddy Walls officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge, Illinois.
