COBDEN, Ill. -- Funeral service for Earl Burpo of Cobden will be held at 2 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Anna. The Rev. Paul Sadler will officiate, with burial in Anna Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home prior to service.

Burpo, 88, died Sunday, July 23, 1995, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

He was born Dec. 24, 1906, in Union County, son of William and Nettie Johnson Burpo. He and Lois Cox were married July 14, 1927.

Burpo was retired from Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, Mich. He had also farmed in Union County. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and charter member of Cobden Co-Op.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Vae Ingram of Chebanse; three grandchildren, and five great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a grandson.
