ADVANCE, Mo. -- Edith Marie Ford, 92, of Advance passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Pope County, Arkansas, daughter of M.G. and Laurna Beare Gregory. Edith had worked at Inland Shoe Factory in Advance. She was in charge of Advance Senior Citizens Center 20 years. She had also been hostess with Robins Tours 15 years. Edith's home church was Bethel General Baptist Church...

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Edith Marie Ford, 92, of Advance passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Pope County, Arkansas, daughter of M.G. and Laurna Beare Gregory.

Edith had worked at Inland Shoe Factory in Advance. She was in charge of Advance Senior Citizens Center 20 years. She had also been hostess with Robins Tours 15 years. Edith's home church was Bethel General Baptist Church.

She and Delbert Dwyght Ford were married Sept. 24, 1938, in Russellville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Feb. 27, 1983.

Survivors include a son, Troy Ford of Advance; a daughter, Judy (the Rev. Richard) Bishop of Jasper, Texas; a brother, J.T. Gregory of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Ellen West of Zalma, Missouri, and Edna Gregory of Advance; four grandchildren, Troy Delain Ford, Earnest Dwyght Ford, Renesha Marie Bishop Chambers and Ricky Bishop; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Chester Gregory; two sisters, Larnea Gregory and Crettie Wyatt; and a daughter-in-law, Sue Ford.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Ray Placher and Eric Shrum officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
