Edward E. "Cut" Engert, 81, of Oak Ridge passed away Friday, Aprll 14, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Altenburg, Mo., son of Theodore B. and Lydia C. Grosse Engert. He and Elvira L. Werner were married Sept. 24, 1950, in Frohna, Mo...

Edward E. "Cut" Engert, 81, of Oak Ridge passed away Friday, Aprll 14, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Altenburg, Mo., son of Theodore B. and Lydia C. Grosse Engert. He and Elvira L. Werner were married Sept. 24, 1950, in Frohna, Mo.

On March 18, 1943, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on Jan. 23, 1946.

Cut was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson since 1954. He worked at the former Guth Brothers in Cape Girardeau from 1965 to 1968 and then ran a milk route for Prairie Farms from 1968 until his retirement in 1981.

Cut had farmed in the Oak Ridge community all of his life.

Loving survivors include his wife of 55 years; a son, Shelby Engert of Altenburg, Mo.; a daughter, Jo Dean (Radley) Jauch of Oak Ridge; a sister, Margie (Reinhold) Degenhardt of Altenburg; three grandchildren, Alex Jauch, Chris (Wendy) Jauch, and Cara (Brandon) Raines; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Jauch, Madalyn Dockins and Tanner Raines.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2006, and at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate with burial in Russell Heights with graveside military honors.
