CAIRO, Ill. -- Edward G. Grueninger, 93, of Marion, Ill., formerly of Cairo, died Friday, June 29, 2007, at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion.
He was born on Nov. 1, 1913, in Columbia, Ill., son of Albert and Ida Friederich Grueninger. He and Lillian were married. She died in 1989.
Grueninger was the owner of Eddie's Pastries in Cairo before his retirement. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo.
Survivors include his daughter, Judy A. Davis of Marion; a son, Gary Grueninger of Marion; a brother, Charles Grueninger of Columbia; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Monsignor Bill McGhee as celebrant. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge, Ill.
