EAST PRAIRIE -- Edward Thomas Kerr, 72, of East Prairie died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 23, 1924, in Celina, Tenn., to John Dale and Mary Ellis Kerr. A resident of Mississippi County for the past 17 years, he was employed as a truck driver with Simmons Mattress Co. until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Teamsters Union 142 for 32 years and served in the infantry during World War II where he received five Bronze Stars.
He married Ruth Helen Norville on Feb. 12, 1960. She died Feb. 19, 1993.
He is survived by four sons, Kirk, Edward Jr., Steven and Josh, all of Sikeston; two sisters, Jessie Lee Hill of Old Hickory, Tenn., and Irene Kerr Thurman of Tacoma, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Amos Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Anniston Cemetery.
