CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for Eldoris C. McMikle-Daniel, formerly of Charleston, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Rich Lause will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

McMikle-Daniel, 77, died Monday, March 24, 1997, at Bertrand Nursing Facility.

She was born Jan. 22, 1920, in East Prairie, daughter of Joseph Bernie and Sally Katherine Black McMikle. She and John Henry Daniel Jr. were married April 23, 1949. He died Nov. 8, 1976.

McMikle-Daniel received a bachelor of science degree in design and home economics and a master's degree in art education from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

She began her teaching career at age 16. She taught at East Prairie, Charleston, Diehlstadt and Sikeston schools, and also taught art classes at Southeast University, retiring in 1979.

In October 1981 she opened Creative Corner in hr home and offered classes and workshops for all ages.

She was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church and was active in area and community events. She had held memberships in Missouri State Teachers Association, Southeast Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts, Southeast University Copper Dome Society, and Mississippi County Historical Society.

Survivors include her mother of Bertrand; two brothers, Willard McMikle of Sikeston, Elgin McMikle of Charleston; two sisters, Marguerite Shibley of Germantown, Tenn., and Leola Roach of Indianapolis, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother.
