BERTRAND -- Ellen O. "Tillie" Swinney, 77, of Bertrand, died Wednesday, June 10, 1992, at her home.

She was born Dec. 21, 1914, in Pontotoc, Miss., daughter of John and Virginia Savely Peters. She married Leon Swinney Oct. 26, 1932, at Sikeston. He died Nov. 6, 1970.

Swinney was a member of First Baptist Church here.

Survivors include two sons, Ed Swinney of Sikeston, Paul Swinney of Athens, Ga.; two daughters, Wanda Parsons of Bertrand, Maxine Lee of Columbia; two brothers, Albert Peters of Bertrand, Carl Peters of Anniston; three sisters, Dale Lynch and May Kellick of Bertrand, Ethel Brown of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The Revs. Lee Fansler and C.D. Lynch will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
