NEW HAMBURG -- Elmer Frank Kern, 82, New Hamburg Route 1, died Friday, Sept. 13, 1996, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 13, 1913, at New Hamburg, son of William and Bertha Schlitt Kern. He and Marie Ellen Morie were married June 27, 1953, at New Hamburg.
Kern was a self-employed carpenter, and member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Danny and Randy Kern of New Hamburg; two sisters, Sylvia Steimle of New Hamburg, Vernita Gettings of Chaffee; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton after 4 p.m. Sunday. The parish rosary will be at 7 and Knights of Columbus service at 7:15.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Church, with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating.
