SUTHERLAND, Va. -- Eloise Phillips Franzyshen, 69, of Sutherland passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021. Born in Cape Girardeau, she was the daughter of the late George O. Phillips and Marjorie Groves Mills. Eloise was a retired educator from the Chesterfield County (Virginia) Public Schools and had also worked in both Dinwiddie County and Hampton City public schools in Virginia. ...

SUTHERLAND, Va. -- Eloise Phillips Franzyshen, 69, of Sutherland passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.

Born in Cape Girardeau, she was the daughter of the late George O. Phillips and Marjorie Groves Mills.

Eloise was a retired educator from the Chesterfield County (Virginia) Public Schools and had also worked in both Dinwiddie County and Hampton City public schools in Virginia. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Dinwiddie and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society (DKG), where she had served as both local chapter president and held several state offices.

She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Ron Franzyshen; a sister, Allene (Mike) Wright; two nephews, Michael (Jan) Wright and Ted Wright; a niece, Terzah Wright; three great-nephews, Michael, Ted and Henry; dear friends, Jackie and Mike Ferguson; and her many DKG sisters.

Grandparents Fred and Allene Groves of Cape Girardeau and George W. and Eloise Phillips of Riverside, California, preceded her in death.

Eloise's funeral was held March 10 at St. John's Catholic Church in Dinwiddie.

The family was served by the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Catholic Church in memory of Eloise Franzyshen or use your contribution to do what Eloise always did, "pay it forward" to someone in need.
