JACKSON -- Elsie E. Voorhes, 89, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 19, 1909, at Daisy, daughter of Herman and Mary Kaiser Brune. She and William Curtis Voorhes were married Sept. 12, 1931. He died Aug. 12, 1989.

The Voorhes owned and managed the former Voorhes Nursery at Fruitland from 1950-80. She had also worked at Deal Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne and Don Voorhes of Jackson; a daughter, Mary McGruder of Jackson; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and a grandchild.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Church, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
