MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Ernest T. McConnell, 84, of Marble Hill passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at his home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Providence, Ky., son of Ernest Taylor and Myrtle Lee Hall McConnell. He and Anna Alice Elliot were married Sept. 3, 1948, and she passed away Feb. 23, 1996.
Mr. McConnell retired after working 24 years for the Alaska Marine Highway, was a member of White Oak Baptist Church and served proudly for 24 years in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include sons David Stanley (Mary) McConnell of Marble Hill and Daniel Lee (Colleen) McConnell of Kenai, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Theresa McConnell; and a sister, Davida Quinn.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ray Meek and Dr. John Englehart officiating. Burial will be in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill with full military honors.
