Evelyn Howard, 83, of Greenville, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Evelyn Howard, 83, of Greenville, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

She was born Dec. 17, 1922, at Poplar Bluff, daughter of William H. and Anna Jane Lincoln Hoover. She and Donald Howard were married March 13, 1998, in Blytheville, Ark.

Howard was a former nurse's aide at Manteno State Mental Hospital in Illinois. She was affiliated with Jesus Name Pentecostal Mission Inc., and a member of VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Louise Conway of Clifton, Texas, Mary Lee Burgess of Sikeston, Mo.; two brothers, Norman Hoover of McClure, Ill., Otis Hoover of St. Louis; a sister, Myrtle Howard of Scott City; two stepdaughters, Nancy and Jennifer Howard of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Donald Howard Jr. of Cape Girardeau; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with Bill Carter and the Rev. William Joyce officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
