CHARLESTON -- Floy E. Hess, 81, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, July 7, 1995, at the Spring Lake Guest Care Center at Shreveport, La.
She was born March 17, 1914, at Kirby, Ark., daughter of Ella Jay and Ophelia Moran Thrash.
She married Andrew C. Hess in 1931. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 1988.
She worked with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in St. Louis prior to moving to Shreveport. She lived in Charleston 46 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church and former member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include sons, Jim K. Hess of Ellington and Andy Hess II of Sikeston; a daughter, Shirley Powell of Shreveport; a brother, Kyle Thrash of Los Angeles; sisters, Sue Woodall of Kirby, Eula Vantrese of Gardenia, Calif., and Hallye Beasley of Houston; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, granddaughter, three brothers and six sisters.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston, with the Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Burial will follow. McMikle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
