SIKESTON -- Frances Barnett, 93, of Sikeston died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at Clearview Nursing Center.
She was born March 1, 1905, at Morehouse, daughter of Frederick B. and Cora Kessling Rauch. She and Charles O. Barnett were married Aug. 10, 1930.
Barnett was a 1923 graduate of Morehouse High School, and received a degree in home economics from Iowa State College in Ames in 1927.
She taught home economics at Crystal City and Morehouse High Schools. She was also involved in 4-H, Scouts, and other youth organizations.
The Barnetts moved to Sikeston in 1943, she helped organize the Rosegate Garden Club and held several offices, and also held state offices in the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri.
Barnett was a member of Rauch-Spence Memorial United Methodist Church, was a charter member of Women's Society of Christian Service, member of Kings Highway Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and was named in the 1964-65 Who's Who of American Women.
Survivors include a niece, Rosemary Lumsden of Sikeston; and a nephew, William Rauch of Chaffee.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Linda Zych officiating. Entombment will be in Sikeston City Cemetery Mausoleum.
