Fred H. Jones, 70, of Perryville died Saturday, June 11, 1994 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 1, 1924 in Newport, Ark., the son of Edgar and Gertrude Barker Jones.

On Feb. 27, 1949, he married Pauline Robison in Wood River, Ill. She survives of Perryville.

He had lived in Perryville since 1989 moving from Thebes, Ill. where he had lived since 1975. He was a former Cape Girardeau police officer and was in the appliance repair business in Cape Girardeau area until his retirement in 1985.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army was a member of Allied invasion forces at Normandy. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of VFW post 3838 in Cape and VFW post in Perryville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary Jones, Scott City, Larry Jones, Thebes; three daughters, Marilyn Jacobs, Waterloo, Ill., Sandy Schemel, Perryville, Janet Jones, Cape Girardeau; one brother, Buster Jones, Lubbock, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

One brother and three sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel with the Rev. Ernest Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Ill. Military rites will be conducted by VFW post 3838.

Friends may call today at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m.
