MOUNDS, Ill. -- Funeral service for Fred J. Allen Sr. of Mounds will be held at 10 a.m. today at Barkett Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. Quentin Davis will officiate, with burial in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
Allen, 82, died Sunday, July 3, 1994, at his home.
He was born Nov. 12, 1911, in Ullin, son of William and Ida Mae Coleman Allen.
Allen worked at Union Carbide Corp. in Kevil, Ky., 26 years. He was a member and trustee at First Baptist Church here, and member of American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Flora; two daughters, Mary Windings of Villa Ridge, Marion Rhude of Belleville; five sons, Fred Allen Jr. of Pulaski, Gary Allen of Toledo, Brian Allen of Nokomis, Fla., Carl Brown of Marietta, Ga., Randy Allen of Mounds; a foster son, James Kite of Chester; a sister, Faye Etheridge of Crystal Lake; a brother, Donald Allen of Tamms; 19 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and brother.
