Fred B. Sitzes, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Gipsy, Mo., son of Raliegh Ray and Clara Arnelia Stilts Sitzes. He and Delores C. Murphy Sitzes were married Jan. 28, 1950, in Chicago.

Sitzes was an executive for Florsheim Shoe Co. in Chicago, employed there for more than 40 years. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1983. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from Feb. 11, 1943, to Dec. 10, 1945.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patti Lynn Norman of Monument, Colo., Sandra G. Hovis of Advance, Mo.; a son, Robert A. Decker of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Joyce Kernell and Lilly Griffin of Sikeston, Mo., Jean Belt of Columbia, Ill.; three brothers, Glen Sitzes of Sikeston, David Sitzes of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Charlie Sitzes of Bloomington, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Virgil Bunch officiating. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with full military rites by the Missouri Honors Team.
