WHITEWATER -- Gene Paul Stroder, 83, of Whitewater died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at his home.
He was born Oct. 24, 1915, at Crump, son of Daniel Franklin and Alice Simpson Stroder. He and Thelma Strong were married July 29, 1935, at Benton. She died Aug. 31, 1992.
Stroder was an engineer on a riverboat many years, and also worked on the family farm. He was a member of Bethlehem General Baptist Church at Crump.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Stroder of Whitewater, Jerry Stroder of Hillsboro; a daughter, Shirley Young of Webster Groves; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a grandson.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. until service time.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Willis Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Barks Chapel Cemetery at Crump.
