SIKESTON, Mo. -- George Wiley Lackey, 74, of Sikeston died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at his home. SIKESTON, Mo. -- George Wiley Lackey, 74, of Sikeston died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at his home.

He was born July 28, 1927, in Little Rock, Ark., son of Charles A. and Lela Johnson Lackey Sr. He first married Rachel Millner, who died June 17, 1995. He and Juanita Maness were married Feb. 14, 1998, at Fisk, Mo.

Lackey lived in Michigan most of his life. He retired in 1985 from the shipping department and assembly line at General Motors in Flint, Mich. He was a member of the Shriners in Flint and helped at the Children's Hospital. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Larry Moody of Flint, Tony Millner of Fisk; a daughter, Patricia Lackey of Sikeston; two stepdaughters, Connie Wyatt of Houston, Texas, Sue Dugger of Fisk; three brothers, Carl Lackey of Palatka, Fla., Charles Lackey Jr. of Murphysboro, Ill., William "Bill" Lackey of Zanesville, Ohio; two sisters, Elsie Lackey of Sikeston, Charlene "Carrie" Johnson of Benton, Mo.; 12 stepgrandchildren; and 11 great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Revs. Joe McCullough and Rocky Tallen officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie, Mo.
