Cecil G. "Gerald" Williams, 79, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at his home.

He was born March 7, 1943, in Blodgett, Missouri, to Jack M. and Alma Young Williams. He and Linda R. Weber were married Oct. 26, 1963, in Altenburg, Missouri. Two sons, Rusty and Travis, were born to their union.

Gerald attended Kelly High School in Scott County. He honorably served six years in the Missouri National Guard.

Gerald learned the trade of bricklaying with his brother-in-law. He later owned and operated Williams Masonry in Jackson and was employed through the Bricklayers Local No. 23 in Cape Girardeau.

On the weekends, the Williams family could be found camping, boating and water skiing. While his sons were growing up, Gerald enjoyed coaching their baseball teams. Since his retirement in 2008, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, listening to country music and spending time with his grandchildren.

Loving survivors include his wife of 59 years, Linda Williams of Jackson; two sons, Rusty (Tracey) Williams of St. Peters, Missouri, and Travis L. Williams of Jackson; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wanda (Ed) Blaylock and Evelyn (Doyle) Taylor; and two nephews.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Joshua Schmidt will conduct the funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
