PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Gertrude Garris, 85, of Perryville died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at Perry Oaks Manor.
She was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Newfoundland, Canada, daughter of Peter and Mary Blackmore. She married Louie Garris, who died March 19, 1981.
Garris worked at International Shoe Co. and had been a nurse's aide.
Survivors include six sons, Louie, Laddie, Rodney and Oliver Garris of Perryville, Jerry Garris of Red Bud, Ill., Dwight Garris of Florida; five daughters, Madge Billings, Sally Detjen, Letty Limbaugh and Myra Garris, all of Perryville, Daphne Garris of California; two sisters, Daphne Butler and Florence Vincent of Newfoundland; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 6:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Francis officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery at Crosstown, Mo.
