Gladys C. Farrar, 95, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born March 20, 1906, in Lixville, Mo., daughter of Charles Arthur and Ida Victoria Loberg Conrad. She and Pat Simmons were married Feb. 5, 1943. He died in 1943. She married James Elmer Farrar April 14, 1962, and he died in 1967...

Gladys C. Farrar, 95, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born March 20, 1906, in Lixville, Mo., daughter of Charles Arthur and Ida Victoria Loberg Conrad. She and Pat Simmons were married Feb. 5, 1943. He died in 1943. She married James Elmer Farrar April 14, 1962, and he died in 1967.

She was an elementary school teacher for 46 years, 32 of them in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau and was involved in various women's organizations and taught the beginners Sunday School class for many years.

She was a member of the Association of Retired Teachers and the Wednesday Club, and a charter member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Education Society. She received her bachelor of science in education degree from Southeast Missouri State University and her master of fine arts degree at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

Survivors include a brother, Charles Conrad of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Ruby "Judy" Hejkal of Mineral Point, Mo.; a stepson, James "Bill" Farrar of Caledonia, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Dorothy Moore of Albuquerque, N.M., Ann Oberndorfer of Frohna, Mo., and Alene Manns of St. Louis; and six stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roy Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park.
