Gladys French Smith, 86, of Portageville, Mo., died Monday, April 12, 2004.

She was born Jan. 28, 1918, at New Madrid County, daughter of William Robert and Margaret-Ann Elizabeth Davidson House.

She married Amos French in 1934 and Roy Smith in 1969. Both preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Michael French of Portageville; three daughters, Sharon Paylor of Memphis, Tenn., Karen Baxter of Portageville, Juanita Henley of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Margie Todd of Sikeston, Mo., Betty Butler of Portageville and Ruby Rooker of New Madrid., Mo.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a granddaughter, three sisters and four brothers.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Portageville United Methodist Church with the Revs. Sharon Howard and Leland Butler officiating. Burial will be in Portageville Cemetery.

DeLisle Funeral Home of Portageville is in charge of arrangements.
