Grace Allene Cherry Hopkins, 76, of Cape Girardeau died at 4:33 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 1, 1930, in Obion, Tenn., daughter of Rufus and Mary Collins Cherry. She and Laverne Hopkins were married July 24, 1947, in Mayfield, Ky.

Mrs. Hopkins was a lifetime member since 1955 of First Christian Church where she was very active as deaconess, chairman of the Evangelism and Membership Committee, charter member of Christian Church Bridge Club and camp counselor at Orchard Crest Youth Camp.

She is survived by her husband, Laverne Hopkins of Cape Girardeau; a son, Terry Allen and wife Liza Hopkins of Naperville, Ill.; two brothers, Leon Cherry of Cape Girardeau, Ronnie Gene Cherry of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Juanita McArthur of Sikeston, Mo., Carmi White of Chicago; a grandchild, Stacey and husband Andy Goldbeck; a great-grandchild, Alexandria Goldbeck; two stepgrandchildren, Nina Netzley and Ryan Goehring.

She was preceded in death by three sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodger Kiepe officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park
