BERNIE, Mo. -- Grady Odell Barnes, 76, of Bernie died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at his home. He was born Sept. 22, 1923, at Medina, Tenn., son of Frank C. and Mollie Cleva King Barnes. He and Imogene Tate were married Oct. 2, 1946, in Corinth, Miss. Barnes was an outside foreman at MFA Grain Co. before retiring. He was a member of Bernie Northside Baptist Church...

BERNIE, Mo. -- Grady Odell Barnes, 76, of Bernie died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at his home.

He was born Sept. 22, 1923, at Medina, Tenn., son of Frank C. and Mollie Cleva King Barnes. He and Imogene Tate were married Oct. 2, 1946, in Corinth, Miss.

Barnes was an outside foreman at MFA Grain Co. before retiring. He was a member of Bernie Northside Baptist Church.

He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Brian Barnes of Essex, Mo.; two daughters, Pat Lambert of East Prairie, Mo., Dottie Parrish of Dexter, Mo.; a brother, Leonard Barnes of Dexter; a sister, Cassie Capps of Humboldt, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandson, three brothers, and four sisters.

Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Hardin officiating. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery, with full military honor service.
