Harold A. Strack, 71, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, son of Albert H. and Hilda M. Borgfield Strack. He and Dortha J. Sachse were married June 2, 1957...

Harold A. Strack, 71, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born June 15, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, son of Albert H. and Hilda M. Borgfield Strack. He and Dortha J. Sachse were married June 2, 1957.

A 1952 graduate of Central High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force March 28, 1952, serving in Korea, and was honorably discharged as an airman 1st class March 27, 1956.

Harold and his wife, Dortha, lived their entire married life on their family farm on Route W where they raised cattle and grain. Harold worked 13 years at the former Marquette Cement Plant and 26 years at HWI, retiring in 1998.

Harold was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he was a former trustee and usher, and drove the church van. He was currently a member of SEMO Fair Association, previously served on the board of Jackson MFA Oil Co., and was a former leader of Young Americans 4-H Club.

Loving survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Alan D. and Lisa Strack of Apopka, Fla., Jay M. and Nancy Strack of Columbus, Miss., Jo Wayne and Bonnie Strack of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Nichole, Andrew, Ashley, Belinda and Anthony Strack; a sister-in-law, Mary Strack of Cape Girardeau; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and JoAnn Peek of Cape Girardeau; four nieces, Sandy and Kandy Peek of Cape Girardeau, Tammy Slinkard of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Vicky Kerby of Scott City; a nephew, Jeff Strack of Cape Girardeau; many neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert H. and Hilda M. Strack, and a brother, Jerry L. Strack.

Friends may call Saturday after 10 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the church.

McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
