JACKSON, Mo. -- Harry Lloyd Skinner, 79, of National City, Calif., died Friday, March 1, 2002.

He was born Oct. 22, 1922, at Jackson, Mo., son of Harry S. and Bertha Clingingsmith Skinner. He and Violet Niswonger were married Feb. 20, 1943, in St. Louis.

Skinner served 38 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as master chief. He was a veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War.

He was a member of VFW Post 6874 and Fleet Reserve 61. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Masonic Lodge 441.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Terry Kneipp of El Cajon, Calif.; a son, Harry Skinner of Bonita, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Walters of Louisville, Ky., Daisy Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, Ray and Warren Skinner of Jackson, Jim Skinner of Cape Girardeau, Joe Skinner of Mesa, Ariz.; and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral was held Friday at Glen Abbey Mortuary in Bonita. Entombment was in Glen Abbey Memorial Park, with military honors.
