BENTON, Mo. -- Thomas Edward "Harvey" McGowan, 75, of Benton died Friday, March 12, 2021, in Benton.

He was born May 11, 1945, in Portage, Wisconsin to Robert and Reinetta Margaret Atcherberg McGowan. He married Cheri Parsons on March 29, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Harvey retired form Oscar Mayer after 30 years and was owner/operator of T&C Motorcycles Parts in Benton. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after serving for 21 1/2 years. Harvey served in the Vietnam War along with his brothers. He was a member of Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club, VFW and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Cheri; a son, James Robert (Melinda) McGowan of Portage; a daughter, Angela (Stig) Rahm of Wisconsin; a step-son, David Forrest (Elizabeth) Parsons of Chaffee, Missouri; three brothers, James (Sally) McGowan of Wisconsin Dells, Jerry (Jackie) McGowan of Wisconsin Dells and Dan (Susan) McGowan of Burke, Virginia; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and fur babies, Panhead and Softail.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton.

Funeral service will be at noon on Thursday at the chapel with John "Top" Chitwood. Burial will be in at 2 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, with full military honors.
