DEXTER -- Hazel Bess, 84, of Dexter died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Crowley Ridge Care Center.
He was born Dec. 19, 1915, at Clines Island, son of John and Ole Kelley Bess. He and Louise Cardwell were married June 23, 1946.
Bess was a tool and die maker with Hovis Screw Lock Co. in Michigan, retiring in 1965. He moved to Dexter in 1965.
Survivors include his wife; a brother, Andrew Bess of Dexter; three sisters, Pansy Barker of Dexter, Louise Proffer of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Vern Tucker of Roanoke, Va.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Kenneth Gaines officiating.
Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
