MALDEN, Mo. -- Helen Jacklyn Mitchell, 83, of Malden passed away Friday, June 30, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Mrs. Mitchell, daughter of Jack Brown Sr. and Helen Kathryn Stout Chadsey, was born Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1933, in St. Louis.

She was office manager at the Malden Board of Public Works for many years, and a member of First Christian Church.

On June 24, 1951, she was united in marriage to Charles Lavalle Mitchell in Malden. He preceded her in death May 14, 2014.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Lucas (Martin) of East Prairie, Missouri, Susie Thornbrough (Mark) of Dexter, Missouri, and Georgia Shuls (Tim) of Franklin, Tennessee; one son, John Anderson (Ginger) of Cape Girardeau; 15 grandchildren, Amy Sutton, Emilee Brewer, Marti Jackson, Perry Lucas, Joshua Dinkins, Jake Dinkins, Justin Dinkins, Michelle Sandusky, Jessica Rankin, Jamey Shuls, Meagan Shuls, Alex Anderson, Clayton Anderson, Hannah Gandt and Robert Weir; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Brown Chadsey Jr. (Cindy) of Miami; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jane Chadsey Butler and Joan Brancur.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Malden.

Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at the church, with Dr. Jeff Krupinski and Pastor Martin Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Memorials may be made to the Malden Airfield Museum or First Christian Church in Malden.
