Helen Musgraves

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Helen Musgraves, 97, of Van Buren, Arkansas, formerly of Advance, passed away Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

She was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Advance, daughter of Jacob David and Loar Elizabeth Jenkins Tropf. She and Amos Musgraves were married Nov. 3, 1933, at Bloomfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death May 16, 1996.

Helen was a member of Advance United Methodist Church, where she was baptized April 14, 1946, and a member of DAV Auxiliary.

Survivors include four sons, Jim Musgraves of Cape Girardeau, Darrell (Barbara) Musgraves of Minneola, Texas, Bill (Jan) Musgraves of Pacific, Missouri, and Jerry (Linda) Musgraves of Van Buren; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Musgraves.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Advance United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Willer officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
