SIKESTON -- Helen Roberta Slinkard, 73, of Kansas City, Kan. died at the Betheny Medical Center in Kansas City Thursday, Jan. 17, 1994.

She was born Sept. 10, 1920 in Blodgett, daughter of James Henry and Mamie Lemond Wood Gunter.

She was a graduate of Benton High School.

She was married to Herb Slinkard, who preceded her in death.

She formerly worked for a Kansas City, Kan. newspaper.

She is survived by sons, Larry Dale Gunter of Kansas City, Kan, and Darryl Lemon Gunter of Pascagoula, Miss.; a daughter, Karen Vance of Escondido, Calif.; brother, Carl Gunter of Dexter; sister, Katherine Dukes of Spencer, Okla.; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, and one sister.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Morley, with the Rev. Carl Addison, pastor of Tanner Street Church of God in Sikeston, officiating.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel at Sikeston.
