LONGTOWN, Mo. -- Herbert A. Weinrich, 89, of Longtown died on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville, Missouri.

He was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Longtown, son of Rudolph Walter and Esther Ochs Weinrich. He and Ruth Brickhaus married June 7, 1953. She survives in Perryville.

Herbert was a retired farmer. He was a member and elder of Zion Lutheran Church, as well as Sunday school superintendent in Longtown. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League.

He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4282 and American Legion Post 133. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He served on committees for MFA Oil and the ASC county office.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Snell of Cape Girardeau and Karen (Brian) Mitchell of Lee's Summit, Missouri; a sister, Marie Katt of Frohna, Missouri; a brother, Alfred (Kathy) Weinrich of Noblesville, Indiana; a granddaughter, Megan (Chris) Snyder; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Snyder; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles; an infant brother, Milton; and a son-in-law, the Rev. Jerry Snell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 6:30 to 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

He will then be taken to Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown for a funeral service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and the Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown or Serenity Hospice.
